Might Have Turn It Down.
Regina is a
54-year-old single mother with two grown-up daughters.
Tracey, the elder daughter, married an Australian
businessman and moved to Perth, Australia. Kim, the
younger one, is a registered nurse working for a large
hospital in Los Angeles, California. Regina lives alone
in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"It
wasn't easy you know," Regina said, "There was
time I had to work three jobs. I needed money to support
my kids."
Born and
raised in a wealthy family Regina found it very
difficult to adjust to a modest life style when her
father, an addictive gambler, passed away and left her
nothing but debt. She learned to save every penny and
spent it only on necessities. Money was tight but Regina
had never turned down her children's needs. She gave
them everything she had. The least she could care was
herself.
Like all
mothers Regina was in tears watching Tracey walking down
the aisle. That was May 2000. She was finally relieved
and thought there's nothing to worry about no more. But
years of hard work and consistent ignoring of her own
need had already left marks all over her body. She had a
number of small fractures, here and there, which she'd
never paid much attention to until one day in 2001.
"I lost
my balance and fell backwards hitting the floor on my
back. I didn't feel nothing wrong until a couple of days
later when I stood up only to find I had no control over
my right leg," Regina recalled. "It wasn't
paralyzed. I just couldn't move it. I didn't know what
happened but I was really scared. Fortunately I was able
to stretch out and reach the phone."
A fractured
pelvis, just below the hip joint in the front - that's
what it was. Regina was diagnosed osteoporosis. She was
kept in the hospital for only a few days and was
released with extraordinary pain. "Every step was
excruciating. Unlike previous fractures I had, which
were painful but usually diminished in weeks, this one
took three months to heal." said Regina. "My
daughters are God's gift to me. Tracey came all the way
back from Australia to take care of me. She wouldn't
leave until I got mad."
In the
meantime the other daughter Kim was busy searching for
cures of osteoporosis. Being a registered nurse Kim was
fully aware of the notorious side effects of Fosamax and
Actonel and the threat of severe damage they could pose.
Like many other healthcare professionals she is a firm
believer of alternative treatment. It didn't take her

"I guess

a week I go ballroom dancing with friends. Living alone,

competition."
